Don’t ever let anyone talk you into using pharmaceuticals that have nasty side effects if you don’t want to, and don’t take them unless you are well informed about the risks. They are the dangerous drugs, not cannabis. Despite what you may have been told, marijuana is safe and easily managed. It won’t harm your brain or any other part of your body, and heals and aids you in more ways than are imaginable. Frankly speaking – it can do no harm. Never has. Never will. There are many research findings that recognize the cannabinoids THC and CBD as neuroprotectants – they help protect your brain from a host of predator-like diseases like, Alzheimers and Multiple Scerosis, that degenerate brain functions.

Cannabinoids are the most active parts of the cannabis plant, and there are endless THC and CBD medical research studies to read all over the internet that show their potential and effectiveness. Many of these studies were even ordered by our own government and reside on the websites of the National Institute of Health, National Cancer Institute, National Institute of Mental Health, and many more. The government of the Unites States holds all the information it needs that proves the effectiveness of cannabis as medicine. Don’t ever believe anything someone else tells you to the contrary.

Now, I don’t ever mean to say you shouldn’t listen to your doctors, but you must understand the risks, and that may mean doing your own research. If I were diagnosed with a life threatening illness like cancer, I can’t say I wouldn’t accept treatments like radiation and chemotherapy. But whatever my decision, cannabis would be part of the treatment, if for no other reason than to help protect me from the harm that will most certainly come to the well parts of my body.

In my own experience, I have reduced the use of pharmaceutical drugs to a minimum with my use of medical cannabis. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and was prescribed methotrexate to suppress my immune system and keep this auto-immune disease at bay. About a year later I became a medical marijuana user. Unlike many of my peers I have not had to increase my minimal dose of methotrexate, nor have I had to move on to more serious biologic drugs. I also have fibromyalgia and extreme osteoarthritis. Besides numerous surgeries, the only recourse I was given by the modern medical community was prescription painkillers for the osteoarthritis. For the fibromyalgia I was prescribed Lyrica, then Cymbalta, and back to Lyrica again. The Cymbalta did nothing for me, and the Lyrica gave me a host of nasty side effects like, blurred vision, sleeplessness, diarrhea, headaches, ringing in my ears, not to mention the serious weight gain despite dieting and daily exercise. Yes, it helped the fibromyalsia flare ups, but at what cost?

I decided to take a little more control of my life and health. I increased my fairly moderate use of cannabis by utilizing medium THC content hybrid medical cannabis varieties (that contain some CBDs), and slowly cut back on the use of Lyrica. The results have been stellar! I haven’t had the need for any hydrocodone in more than a month, and my Lyrica dose is down to 50mg per day, (a dose my RA doc has said has only worked for one other patient of hers, ever. Oh yes – I also dropped 10 lbs in 30 days without changing diet or exercise. My goal is to be off all pharmaceuticals in one year or less. I’ll report back!

I’m not saying this will work for everyone, but isn’t it worth a try? The drugs we are prescribed are often poisonous to our bodies. I encourage you to talk to your doctor. Mine are on board with my cannabis use, even though they wouldn’t fill out the paperwork for me to join “the program”, and are closely watching my results with amazement. If your doctor does not recognize the benefits of medical cannabis at this time, perhaps you could find another doctor, but be sure to first gather and give to them everything you can find on medical cannabis in relationship to your particular ailment.
